Happy holidays and a wonderful new year.
This Saturday December 25, 2010, the Seoul International Hikers' Club will go for a hike on Baegundae, literally, White Cloud Platform, the highest peak of Bukhansan via Doseonsa (temple) in north of Seoul. This is a fairly challenging trail.
We will take a bus (# 1217) to its last stop and, if available, take a shuttle bus up to the temple, the highest point on Bukhansan that is reachable by transportation. The temple, Doseonsa was established by Greast Monk Doseon during the Silla era in 862, and is the main temple that represents north of Seoul (Bongeunsa, the south of Seoul). If you feel you cannot hike this Saturday morning, you can alternatively decide to take a rest at and look around the temple for a couple of hours till the rest of the group returns from hiking.
Where we meet: Just outside Exit #4 of Suyu subway station (Line 4, stn. #414)
When: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 26, 2010
What we will do: Hike to Baegundae (or visit Doseonsa), and have a meal somewhere in the neighbourhood afterwards
Cost : 20,000won, Each person will pay for their own meal.
Duration: 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Level of difficulty: 7 out of 10
RSVP: Please e-mail
sihclub@gmail.com by 5 p.m. Friday if you plan to attend so we have an idea of how many people will participate. If you sign up but then cannot make it on the day of the hike, please send an e-mail before 9 a.m. Saturday and also send a text message to the coordinator in charge.
Contact Jeong-ho at 016 246 9261 if you are delayed considerably on Saturday morning. We strongly recommend that you wear proper hiking footwear, good socks, a warm jacket, a (woolen or polartec) hat, a (woolen or thermal) scarf, and also pack a raincoat and your crampons. Prepare and carry your own light snack and water (or tea / coffee in a thermos) to have as lunch on the mountain.
Cancellation policy: We do not cancel our hikes due to
inclement weather.
Coordinators of the hikes will go to the meeting place and we will try to arrange an alternative activity (like a safer walk) if hiking is not possible. You are, of course, not obligated to attend the changed schedule.
Thank you for your interest,
Coordinators
