This Saturday, September 4, the Seoul International Hikers will go for a hike along the old Seoul fortress from behind the president residence to Dongdaemun. Seoul used to be surrounded by two fortresses composed of inner one passing along the ridge of Bukagsan and outer one along Bukhansan. We will walk along some part of the inner one starting Changuimun gate behind the Blue House.
It had been kept from approaching because it was located too near from the Presidential Residence. Since the former president opened it to public, it has been accessible to anybody with passport or residence card. We will walk along the way looking over Seoul--start from Gyeongbok Palace and descend towards Dongdaemun, East gate.
Passport or residence card is necessary to pass the Blue House District.
Please carry your residence card or passport.
How to get there: Line 3, Gyeongbokgung Station (St# 327)
Where we meet: Just inside
Gyeongbokgung Station near Exit 2
When: 11:30 a.m.
What we will do: Hike on Bugaksan along Seoul fortress. We will start at Chang-ui-mun (Chang-ui Gate) and proceed in the direction towards Dongdaemun, an area well-known for whole sale market area. Then we will have our meal and tea.
If you plan to attend the hike, please email
sihclub@gmail.com before Friday evening, so we can have an idea of how many people would come.
Could you call Jeong-ho Park at 016 246 9261 in case you are significantly late?
Please wear proper hiking footwear (good
hiking boots, socks, gloves, etc.) and carry an umbrella or a raincoat. It is the rain spell and there is always some chance of sudden shower, especially this year.
Cancellation policy:
We do not cancel hikes due to
inclement weather. Coordinators for the hiking will go to the meeting place and try to arrange an alternative activity (likely cultural activities in nature) if hiking is not possible. You are, of course, not obligated to attend but if you do sign up, please try to attend and be on time.
Thank you for your interest,
Coordinators
